Originally brewed as a one-off beer, this does not fit into the story of the Scone.

However, the enthusiastic reception it received convinced the brewers to add it to their standard offerings. And I am glad for it. Properly hoppy beers are in short supply in Spain. It is always nice to find one that has American levels of hop aroma and flavor.

Style Guidelines

  • Color: Straw (03 SRM)
    • Standard: Pale to copper (4-12(8-24 EBC) SRM)
  • Clarity: Both chill haze and hop haze are visible
    • Standard: Chill haze is acceptable at low temperatures. Hop haze is allowable at any temperature.
  • Perceived Malt Aroma & Flavor: Medium-low malt flavors
    • Standard: Medium-low to medium intensity malt attributes are present in aroma and flavor
  • Perceived Hop Aroma & Flavor: High hop aromas and flavors
    • Standard: High to very high, exhibiting a wide range of attributes including floral, piney, citrus, fruity (berry, tropical, stone fruit and other), sulfur, diesel-like, onion-garlic, catty, resinous, and many others.
  • Perceived Bitterness: Medium to high (20 IBUs)
    • Standard: Medium-high to very high (50-70 IBUs)
  • Fermentation Characteristics: Medium-high alcoholic content, no diacetyl
    • Standard: Fruity esters are low to high. Diacetyl and DMS should not be present.
  • Body: Full
    • Standard: Medium-low to medium

Tasting Notes

A double dry-hopped IPA with perhaps slightly less hops aroma and flavor than an American would associate with a DIPA. The hops flavors are fresh and aromas inviting. No oxidized hops flavors detected.
